June [Friendship] Spotlight

Friendship Spotlight: Sarah Knight & Maria Lowry

June 8 was National Best Friends Day, so this month we are highlighting a friendship rather than an individual. This spotlight shows how activities supported by your FSS Dollar can bring people together to forge long-lasting, meaningful relationships.

Sarah Knight is our very own 48 FSS Commander's administrative assistant. She is a bubbly, friendly local national who has lived in the UK for 22 years. She loves working for the 48 FSS because of the people and the relationships she has come to value. One of these relationships is with Maria Lowry, a Special Education Assistant at Lakenheath High School. Sarah and Maria met through the 48 FSS and bonded over their love of crafting. The two have enjoyed getting to know each other in various classes at both the Wood Shop and Arts & Crafts. Their favorite and most challenging project was the Easter Planter at the Wood Shop. They came with a group of four and had a great time creating memories full of laughs and learning. Sarah and Maria's friendship highlights just how important it is to nourish those new relationships. You never know who your next best friend might be! So grab a buddy, sign up for an activity, and see where it leads you!

Living the military lifestyle means packing up and moving away from friends every few years. This can make it challenging to create deeper connections with our community and can leave us feeling a bit light on close friends at times.

If you're looking for a way to strengthen your friendships or make new acquaintances, you could try signing up for an FSS activity! Maybe you have a shared interest like golfing and want to hit the links at Breckland Pines. Or, you could bring a group together for some laughs and friendly competition at Liberty Lanes. Look no further than your FSS for opportunities to nourish relationships while at the same time benefiting our Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Fund. Every FSS Dollar you spend goes right back into improving our programming and activities, supporting employment opportunities for military spouses and dependents, and improving our Tri-base community.
