Airmen reach excellence

CCAF

Community College of the Air Force

Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) is at an Operational Pause as they transition to the new and improved Student Information System (SIS). Effective 28 Sep 2022, regular CCAF operations will be paused for approximately 3-6 months.

What this means for Airmen: Your local Education & Training Center AND CCAF will be unable to process CCAF Action Requests, provide CCAF online services, process degrees, including issuing diplomas and awarding degrees, updating student records, updating enrollments and credit applications, and evaluating civilian/military courses. This is due to the labor-intensive processes of migrating and verifying data to the new Student Information System (SIS).

Official CCAF transcripts for courses completed prior to 28 September 2022 may be requested here.

If you would like to speak with an Education Specialist regarding your CCAF, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call the Education & Training Center to schedule an appointment. Airmen may also reach out to the CCAF Student Advocate Office by calling or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Thank you for your patience with this transition.

Finding and Submitting TA

Getting Started
Step-by-Step Guide to Finding a School & Submitting TA
  1. Begin searching online for the college of your choice. You can use Search School Programs & Search Schools under AFVEC or by checking out some of the resources below. (Note: First-time students MUST attend first course with an approved overseas program school in order to use MilTA!) College Navigator
    https://www.dodmou.com/TADECIDE/
  2. Start by visiting, calling, or checking the website of the college of your choice to research the program you are interested in and to complete the ADMISSIONS process with the school.
  3. Send TRANSCRIPTS from all the schools you have previously attended. You will need to contact the individual schools about sending official transcripts directly to the new school. If you are in the Air Force, you do have credits from CCAF; you must order a CCAF transcript from the AFVEC Website through the Air Force Portal.AFVEC from a .mil computer. Under "CCAF Student Services," click on “Transcripts” from menu at the top of the page, and select "Order a Transcript."
  4. Go to Credentials Inc. Send a written request that includes your full name or former name if appropriate, social security number, and the address of the location you want the free transcript to be sent. Your physical signature is required for release of a transcript.

    100 South Turner Blvd
    Maxwell Gunter AFB, AL

  5. Enroll in class(es).
  6. Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you are degree-seeking with your college/university.
  7. Contact the Education & Training Center to arrange your TA BRIEFING. You are REQUIRED to complete an initial TA briefing before submitting for a TA funding request.
  8. Complete and submit your Interest Inventory Assessment results prior to your initial TA briefing. (See Kuder Journey & How to Print Kuder Journey in Resources Tab for more information.)
  9. Create your education goal and attach your degree plan in AFVEC for review by an Education & Training Center Counselor.
  10. You must submit a TA funding request via AFVEC for every class. Remember your TA must be submitted no more than 45 days prior but no less than 7 days prior to the term start date. No Exceptions.
  11. Verify that you have completed the entire registration process. If you answered no to any one of the questions below, you have not completed the process.

Did I enroll in the class?
Did I submit TA for the class?
Does the information on my TA match the information for the class I am enrolled in with my school?
Did I provide my school with a copy of my approved TA funding request?

To WITHDRAWAL/DROP, you MUST notify the Education & Training Center office ASAP if you withdraw or drop a class to cancel your TA Funding Request. If you fail to notify us, you will be responsible to pay back any military funds.

General TA Information

The TA briefing is an overview of the rules and regulations of tuition assistance.

Steps to attend Initial TA:

  1. In AF Portal (accessed through Chrome/Edge), click on Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC).
  2. Login.
  3. Scroll to bottom left corner and click on “Education Center Events."
  4. Click on the desired date you wish to attend the Initial TA briefing and follow instructions.

Considering the recent changes to AFI 36-2670, all students wishing to utilize Military Tuition Assistance and/or requesting a degree change must complete the following:

  • An interest profiler (KUDER information attached in AFVEC once u register for the TA event) prior to receiving tuition assistance. You need to complete all portions of the Kuder Journey Assessment (Career Interests, Skills Confidence, and Super’s Work Values Inventory-revised) prior to attending this briefing. Please bring the one-page summary of your KUDER Journey results with you to this briefing.

6.5.2.7. Airmen must take an interest inventory and receive counseling by an education counselor about the results before an initial Military Tuition Assistance request will be approved.

6.5.4.2.2. Airmen will be allowed two-degree program/school changes. Before a degree change, the Airman must complete an interest inventory (i.e., Kuder Journey), discuss the inventory results with a guidance counselor, and have his/her record annotated in the Air Force Automated Education Management System.

  • Complete the Records Update form (information attached) and bring with you to the briefing.

  • Complete MilTA Virtual Benefits Training (located in AFVEC on left side of screen).
Initial TA Briefing is held every other Tuesday @0900 in Rm 204 of the Education and Training Center (Bldg 948).

We look forward to seeing you there!
