Month of the Military Child
In 1998, the dandelion was adopted as the official flower of the military brat. Dandelions go wherever the wind blows them and can put down roots in even the most challenging places. They adapt easily to their environment and their resilience is beyond comparison. Likewise, military children are again and again uprooted from friends and communities, but instead of withering, they put down deep roots and thrive. No matter what the military throws their way, they stand ready to fly into new surroundings and adventures beyond their wildest dreams. They may not be able to answer where they are from, but they know home is wherever their family goes!
